Ageing gracefully – on your own terms

Nowadays, the market is full of treatments which claim to turn back the clock, but how do you strike that fine balance between restoring a youthful look to your appearance and not looking unnatural or overtreated? After all, the ‘trout pout’ is most definitely not a look any of us wants to copy.

So, what’s the answer?
At REclinic, we want to help you create the very best version of yourself, with no enhancements, just highlighting your natural features. We firmly believe that carefully applied dermal fillers are the perfect way to do this.

Dermal fillers are injected into your skin, to add volume and contours whilst softening the appearance of deep lines and folds. They are used to fill out lines and wrinkles and plump up areas such as the lips and cheeks which lose their elasticity and fullness as we age. The right type of dermal filler, in the hands of a qualified aesthetic clinician, can give amazing results. We can add some softness, volume, or structure to your face so you look like yourself, but fresher.

The techniques we use are constantly evolving, but our overall approach remains the same. Twenty years ago, the dermal filler process was very much about filling lines to smooth them out. Today, the approach is holistic, we’re softening the overall appearance of the face, using fillers in a skilful way to replace lost volume. Throughout the process, we’re looking at the appearance of the whole face, not at its separate parts, and that’s really important.

Wow, they sound great but are they full of chemical nasties?
The fillers we use today have been around since the 90s and consist of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a naturally occurring sugar found in the body which binds water. Each molecule of HA attracts 1000x its weight in water, which is what gives fillers their hydrating properties and volumising effect.

When it’s used as a filler, the HA is injected into the problem area and works by pulling water to it, hydrating the skin tissue surrounding the injection site, stimulating collagen production and resulting in increased firmness and elasticity.

Ok, I’m sold, but surely it can’t be used everywhere?

One of the best things about dermal fillers is their flexibility. By tailoring the dose of the HA you can achieve varying degrees of elasticity and firmness. This means it can be used on cheeks, jaws and chins as well as fine lines, and deep-set wrinkles (including those around your nose and mouth) and can even be used on the very sensitive skin under your eyes to reduce those dreaded bags. It really is the perfect anti-ageing secret weapon.

In Safe Hands
Deciding to have a procedure can be a big decision, and fillers are no different. Here at REclinic, we take the time to sit and talk to each of our clients to understand exactly what it is they want to achieve. If we feel that dermal fillers are best for you then we will talk you through the process step by step. We will also explain what the treatment contains, after all, it’s your body and it’s important that you know what you’re putting into it.

The process itself is generally very safe when carried out by a trained professional. I am a practising dental surgeon as well as a fully qualified injectable aesthetics clinician who has undergone extensive training in order to be able to deliver, not just dermal fillers, but any of the procedures we offer. In fact, I pride myself on continuously developing our training to ensure that we are at the cutting edge in terms of techniques and safe practice. Whether you come to see me or any other facial aesthetics clinician, I would always urge you to ensure they are a qualified medical professional.

Please ask us if you have any concerns. Our work is our passion and we’re only too happy to talk about it in more detail, especially if it helps to put your mind at rest that you’re making the right decision.

Is it going to hurt?
We’d love to say ‘You won’t even notice it’ but the truth is, no treatment is completely pain-free. The best way to view it is that injections only last for a few seconds and there are a variety of ways that we can minimise any discomfort.

We use a topical anaesthetic and extremely fine needles for the majority of our procedures. Where appropriate, we sometimes use a cannula (or blunt needle) which allows us to cover a wider area from just one point, reducing the number of insertions.

The filler we use is a formula which includes Lidocaine, a numbing agent, to reduce any discomfort that may be felt during treatment. We may also use our NUEVIBE vibration device to help ease the sensation and make cosmetic injections a near-painless experience.

We are committed to carrying out all of our procedures with the utmost care and will do everything we can to ensure you are as comfortable and free from discomfort as possible.
